War...
What leads mankind to war? Greed? Power? What is so important that other humans must lose their lives to gain? What parcel of land, room of gold, or position of power is that important?
The casualties of war are often seen as numbers to the world, and rarely as human beings unless one is personally affected by death. The world seems to fail to see the father, son, brother, mother, sister, daughter, husband, wife, or just someone's friend beyond the numbers. What justification is there? The answer is clear...

Yet as the intelligence of mankind seems to grow and people's rationality seems to be maturing, war is always the answer. They build up arms and train normal people to kill other humans for their country, so that their country can gain land, resources and/or power. Yet there seems to be a overpowering rationality to it.
People are power hungry. Once the opportunity arises, they jump to the gun. When they get power, they only want more power, land, and resources. They invade their neighbors for land and possessions, and power over those people. Then other nations have to step in to defend peace and freedom by fighting and killing. Without war, dictators and other power hungry people will continue to step all over others to gain what they desire. There is no end to it. There never will be.
People will continue to get smarter and more rational, but war will always be the answer to their struggles. I am saddened by this fact.
Good night all, and remember to keep peace with others, even if they disagree with you or bug you. Suck it up, and accept that we all are different; we must not impose our will on others. This will lead to disagreements. This will lead to grudges. This will lead to wars.

I just recently got back from seeing "Watchmen". I thought it was an interesting movie, or using its director's words... weird.

I have just finished typing my paper for Nazi Germany class. I started out very confident in my ability to properly portray Adolf Hitler's ascension to power, but with the requirement for citations, that diminished as the paper went on. One year ago, my roommate woke me up from my slumber to give me what, at that time, was really bad news for me. Brett Favre retired. I about dropped dead. . . well maybe not, but it was earth shattering news to me.
Here we are a year later, and when Brett announced his retirement a few weeks ago *again*, it was not earth shattering. The primary reason for that was that I have seen the awesome play Aaron Rodgers can give us. Sure we ended up 6-10, but the defense gave up *a lot*.

03-03-2009 Entry
Today I begin the multi-part series known as my Philosophy of Life, where I digest several aspects of human life, and implement my opinion into them by either reinforcing them or condemning them. Today is Part One where I analyze Human Interactions at a One on One level.

Having spent a majority of my time in society alone, I have had a lot of time to observe and analyze peoples interactions with each other. In a broad sense of things, I can label this phenomenon with one word: disappointing.
Many people with approach their conversations with other people trying to keep things light and positive. Here people have the right idea, but they are lacking one key aspect of it. They lack sincerity. While engaged in the conversation, they will nod and smile as if they actually feel this way, but inside they either disagree, or, unfortunately, don't care. I am not saying every conversation is this way, but many are. When the conversation, the state of caring ends, and the state of badmouthing begins.
Badmouthing especially happens when one person is with a group of their friends, and the person this person runs into and converses with is not well liked my these friends. They will act all sweet and caring at first making the person feel welcome and warm. When that person leaves the conversation, badmouthing commences. They will retract many statements they made, and move on to stating all things that are wrong with the person which make them such a terrible person, all to keep their own reputations higher. This is an extreme case of things, but a little bit of this happens in most conversations.
Another negative aspect of one on one interactions is lying. It is sad to see how many people engage in this activity. For example if one friend calls another friend on the phone, but the invited person does not really want to take up the friend's offer. Instead of blatantly stating that they don't want or feel like taking up the offer, they lie by coming up with excuses, such as illness, or work. If I were inviting a person to do something, and they did not want to do so, I would much rather want to hear the truth instead of a lie. Granted that I would try to persuade them otherwise, but I would accept it in the end. My feelings toward that person would not change, and I would not think any less of the person. Lying is a terrible action, especially in relationships between a man and woman (or man and man, or woman and woman if they feel that way). When one lie occurs, this will only lead to another lie to keep from exposing the other lie and so on. I never understood what was so hard about telling the truth and tell their significant other the truth. If they truly loved each other, such little things as going out or not should not affect anything. They should be understanding, and just make plans for the future. It happens. We all don't feel like doing such things all the time, and may just need some "me" time. Telling the truth from the beginning will lead to an easier relationship because they will not always be trying to cover their previous lies with new lies. The web gets messy, so why not keep the web non-existent? They only lies that I feel are "appropriate" are ones involving gifts or surprise parties and the such, when the person being lied to won't really be hurt in anyway, and the lies won't have to be continuously be covered up once the gift or party is revealed.
This is not a complete documentation of my observations, but it is a start. I'll just save it for later. Peace be with you all, and keep a positive view towards life. :)

03-02-2009 3rd Post: Probably will never happen again... never say never though!
Well after much thought and even more unnecessary thinking, I have decided to do a more "typical" blog entry and just rant about random things that come to mind.
-As bad as I had initially thought, Nickelback's new CD, Dark Horse, isn't as bad as I thought it was... still not great, but not horrendous.
-Still waiting for the Packers to sign someone off the free agency market. There were rumors that DE Curry from the Cowboys was going to visit GB before he went to the Giants, but he got distracted by money....good, we don't need money suckers anyway.
-I'm happy to see that Jeff Gordon is leading the NASCAR Sprint Cup standings after three races... 33 to go.
-Hot Topic on wausaudailyherald.com: Governor Doyle is proposing that the background check fee for firearms be raised from $8 to $30. A lot of people are complaining, but it isn't a big deal I think. Guns are expensive, so why not fork out an extra $22 for a good cause. :D lol
-Reborn and its sequel are still brewing in my mind. I must not quit!
-After one week, I am not yet having second thought about changing majors to history. I feel that this is the best track for me, because it interests me the most. The challenging part will be obtaining my Masters of Arts and Doctorate of Philosophy... fancy terms lol
-I'm hoping for a new "Breaking Benjamin" album soon... withdrawals are getting worse... well not really, but still :D
-Looking forward to some racquetball tomorrow... I seem to be getting a little better, but the workout is what is most satisfying...

I think that suffices for now. Peace be with you all, etc. Life is a roller coaster; hope that it always rises and never falls. If it falls, slow it by keeping a positive attitude and learn from the experience to make all future falls not as bad. When rising never be overconfident;
overconfidence usually leads to a fall.

03-02-2009 Bonus Entry

Saturday night I had a dream which I absolutely enjoyed. At work I realized the dream would be an interesting tale to tell. Below is the first few paragraphs that I have written. The title for this first tale (of two total) is 'Reborn'.
The night was dark and all was calm. Two guards stationed outside the main gate of the castle remained still, as if to induce surprise to any intruder that would come by. The fat one, James, moved slightly, causing the flock of birds to take off suddenly. “Damn it! Cursed armor,” he muttered.
The guard opposite James stirred, but quickly repositioned himself. “James! The king himself ordered absolute silence, because of you know what. If he knew what you’re doing…”
James grunted slightly. “Don’t worry about it Carl. What are the chances?”
The two guards resumed their secretive silence. However momentarily, the time that lapsed between silences proved to be costly. Just inside the gate stood a seemingly invisible dwarf with a very visible dagger inside the clutches of his hand.

Reasons why Rush Limbaugh equals Anti-American:
-A true American never hopes their president fails. They may feel that they may fail, but they should never hope. Failure in a president is a failure by the people, and so they are hoping their fellow citizens fail.

Um let's see... I shall write about everything that is awesome/cool and everything that is depressing/bad.
Category A: Awesome/Cool
-Being able to answer a majority of the questions on Jeopardy.
-Doing taxes
-Talking politics
-Visiting Lambeau Field for no reason other than to soak up its awesome-ness
-Making snow angels
-Watching fireworks on the 4th of July under the stars and moon.
-Keeping things messy, but organized.
-Sleeping on the floor after a long night with your best friends
-Waking up before the alarm goes off
-Green laser pointers!
-The birth of a beautiful baby girl/boy

02-25-2009 Entry
Well... in the overall aspect of things, today was a pretty ordinary and "boring" day. Once again I do not have any pressing topics I wish to talk about, so let's see............
Today I launched by continuing project on the U.S. Presidency. You can check it out here at http://raseld.110mb.com
I had dinner at Sonic, which marks the first time I have ever eaten at Sonic. The primary reason for that is... they are no where. I was surprised to see it open here last fall. My food wasn't bad.
I finally got 2 AAA batteries for my awesome new green laser pointer, and darn... it has quite the range. It is ranked a Class IIIa, which is more than most red lasers that people use to entertain their pets, but not the highest. Nonetheless I got the light to appear on the music building across the river, and I was on top of the hill, which is probably a cool 100 yards away from the river. Pretty cool. It is really bright.
I am seriously considering running for the state assembly in 2010, because the election is one month before my planned graduation from college. This could seriously jump start my political career and planned reformation.
Tomorrow we should expect President Barack Obama to release his planned budget, and I am interesting to see what spending he has trimmed out of the bill. Now we need to keep the Congresspeople's sticky fingers off the bill, and all should be okay.
Well that is about it. Heavy snow is in the forecast for tomorrow, so I look forward to taking one last fun ride in the car tomorrow somewhere I really don't need to go. Peace be with you all, and keep an optimistic view of life.

Being no surprise at all, I have decided to comment on President Obama's speech to the Congress that occurred tonight.
I would like to comment on the partisan makeup of American politics. It is better than a unipolar system, where one party has complete control over the country and no opposition is present to stop the party from oppressing on the people. On the flip side, a political system with numerous parties can create chaos in politics. When the country is in dire need of immediate action, a system with more than two parties cannot get anything done quickly, which can lead to many more problems down the road. Yet I am not saying that the system of two (dominant) political parties that we have here in America is perfect. Skirmishes arise, where the party with the majority can instill its will without any consideration to suggestions from the other party. This is not the purpose of having opposing parties. The party in majority MUST back off of high gear and take into consideration suggestions from the minority party. The absolutism of a party is primarily what I want to talk about hear in this introduction.
Every four years, each of the major political parties (Republican and Democrat) come together at a National Convention, where they not only nominate a member of their party to run for president, they create a platform of beliefs and principles by which their members are to uphold when they are at work, whether it be the Congress or the Oval Office. When, in the uncommon event, a party member votes or acts in opposition to a belief or principle set down in the platform, that member is almost for certain to be criticized for their actions, whether it be right or wrong for the nation. This threat forces many members to uphold the platform, whether they the individual believe in it or not. This is NOT right. A platform must not be a rigid set of beliefs and principles. Flexibility must be allowed, so that the elected official acts correctly for the nation, not the party. We are no where near this. Tonight, while I was watching the speech, and in recent years with President Bush, the party that was not in the White House would often not clap, nor stand to comments made by the President, whether they were right or wrong. A clear split of opinion was evident. Politicians must act for what's best for America, and not base their actions on a party platform.
Now I will move on (finally) to the speech by the President. A few key ideas I got out of the speech that I thought were good and important were as follows. For one, President Obama proposed that the Congress act immediately to pass legislation that would update the outdated regulatory system. Many of the regulations were created at a time much different, and were appropriate for the time being. Yet as we see they remain to be the rules of the road. Changes to these must be made.
Then President Obama proposed and advocated for a push for the growth of renewable resources. We have relied on foreign oil for too long, and have dragged our feet in creating energy that is both clean and renewable. America developed solar technology, yet we fall behind to other nations such as Germany or Japan when it comes to using it. We must not wait any longer. The oil will not last forever, and continued use of it will only lead to more environmental problems down the road.
The last key point that I will talk about tonight will be President Obama's push for the growth of higher education. At one time, America led the world in people with degrees, and now we trail in that category. More public funding must be redirected to higher education, so that more people can obtain degrees. More and more jobs require more than a high school diploma, yet less than half of Americans possess more than that high school diploma. I, for one, am a strong supporter of education, because with education comes tolerance of others, and increased knowledge and appreciation of more topics. Many people today do not understand the culture of the Islam religion, and usually correlate Islam with terrorism. In reality, Islam is a religion of peace, like Christianity and Judaism. Only a very small number of Muslims have taken the Qu'ran's words to imply that a Jihad against the Western world must take place to stop the oppression. Few people actually understand that Christianity, Judaism and Islam are so intertwined, whether it come down to monotheism, or the role of Jesus Christ, the Savior for Christians, and a prophet for Muslims. A better education of other cultures raises tolerance, and in the end would help promote peace between people of all religions and cultures.
I'll end there tonight, for if I were to go on any further, I might as well publish it as a book and appear on the Colbert Report. Remember peace be with you all, and keep an optimistic outlook on life. For all you Christians, tomorrow is Ash Wednesday. Have a peaceful one. :)

02-23-2009 Entry
Without really any pressing topics that I want to blog about, I decided to go to CNN.com. Here are some of the headlines and my comments...
1) Stocks end at lowest point since '97: That, my friend, is quite a drop. However I remain confident that the economy will recover like it always has, and life will go on. If not, life will go on anyways, unless the apocalypse arrives. Plus wouldn't this be a good time to buy? Isn't the saying "buy low, sell high"? Perhaps then you shouldn't sell high, because that, obviously, isn't good for the stock market. Enough with money, we move onto...
2) (from wausaudailyherald.com because it was a slow day nationally in news) "For Wisconsin motorists, tickets could be in the mail": This article concerned the proposition by Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle to install cameras to catch motorists that run red lights, and speed in work zones. I, for one, think this isn't a bad idea. I posted my views on the comments page of the article and got some response. First I stated that running red lights and speeding in work zones is illegal, so citizens could prevent the surprise citiation in the mail by not doing the acts. Second committing these crimes is dangerous, and this will help crack down those bad people. Third this would bring in revenue to help fund the states programs. Some people agreed; some disagreed. There were questions of privacy. I wasn't aware that public roads were private. If we were to install cameras on private properties, and catch druggies, and other criminals, that would, in my opinion, be an invasion of privacy. We will just have to wait and see if this is implemented.
